Aerial Photography at Burning Man 1996
We filled the balloon with probably too much helium, to insure enough
lift to support the crash box (about 10 pounds of equipment) and overcome the
irregular downdraft. Still, the balloon showed an alarming tendency to
hurtle groundward as the wind changed. The balloon was also becoming
transparent on one side... we wondered if it was overfull. Hoping for the
best, we walked the balloon from our camp (Alien Landing Site Camp) toward
the burning man. The light breeze that was rising made steering the balloon a little bit challenging.
